Turner breaks ground on $300M Connecticut resort

Turner Construction started work on a $300 million, 549-room Great Wolf Lodge resort that will include an indoor water park in Mashantucket, Connecticut, adjacent to the Foxwoods Resort Casino, the company announced in a press release

Located on a 13-acre lot, the facility will feature a 91,000-square-foot indoor waterpark heated to 84 degrees, a 61,000-square-foot family entertainment center, 7,500 square feet of flexible conference space, several dining options and family-friendly suites, some with multiple bedrooms.

At the peak of construction, Turner said 400 tradeworkers will be on site, with the resort creating 500 full and part-time jobs once open.

The resort is being built as part of a partnership agreement with the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe, owner of Foxwoods Casino Resort, one of the largest resort casinos in the U.S. The facility will become home to the 23rd Great Wolf Lodge nationally and is aimed at attracting people with young children to the region to create a family vacation destination.

Chad McCullough, vice president and general manager at Turner estimated it will take 1.1 million hours of work to complete the resort, which is scheduled to open in 2025.
