AGC Charities, Inc. was established in 2008 as a charitable organization to carry out the charitable activities of The Associated General Contractors of America and operates exclusively for charitable, scientific, and educational purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3).
AGC in the Community Awards Program, designed to showcase AGC chapters’ and its member’s charitable activities and endeavors, is one of the highest responsibilities of AGC Charities. The awards are given at the Opening Session of AGC of America’s Annual Convention, which convenes in March of each year.
AGC Charities promotes and supports the national charitable initiative Operation Opening Doors, a program originated at the local level by AGC of South Dakota Building Chapter, to provide home remodeling services to soldiers and veterans who have suffered disabling wounds while serving in the US Armed Forces.
Providing assistance to construction craft workers or other construction professionals who fall victim to natural or other catastrophes, and to the families of such professionals is also an important duty to AGC Charities. Recent examples of such catastrophes include Hurricanes Harvey and Maria.
