Interior Designers Say These Bygone Bathroom Design Trends Should Be Left in 2022

These outdated bathroom design trends are being replaced by at-home spas focused on natural and neutral finishes in 2023

An updated bathroom doesn’t just increase homeowner comfort and maximize a home’s aesthetic, but it can also boost resale value. That is, if homeowners choose the right materials and design features in their remodeling projects. After topping the renovation charts as a major trend for the last several years, the all-white bathroom is expected to be a thing of the past in 2023. Instead homeowners are opting for natural, veinier stones and darker tones. 

Minimalism is expected to be another dying trend in the year ahead, but busy patterns and mosaics are also a no-go for homeowners remodeling to create a timeless bathroom space, Forbes reports.

Say bye to over-the-top glamorous bathrooms in 2023. “We are seeing less of the shimmer and glam in bathrooms and more of a spa-like serenity feel. There is a strong trend using color-blocking with tiles that have textures, like handmade zellige by Clé Tile,” says interior designer Holly Freres of JHL Design. “We’re using these quieter patterns with bold colors still to evoke a feeling of playfulness within the space. This gives a calming feeling for the eye but not too serious if you will.”
