The building process has begun for United Imaging’s manufacturing, research, and development base in Shanghai, China.
Architecture design firm Gensler partnered with the medical equipment company to create a modern campus, integrating technology research and development (R&D), intelligent manufacturing, international training, and global branding. The 420,000 m2 (4,520,842 sf) facility will aim to accommodate 8000 to 10,000 employees.
Underpinned by the concept of people-oriented and sustainable development, the new campus will feature circular passages via connecting bridges, as well as open and connecting office areas. The design will also integrate rivers and city roads, celebrating the coexistence of humans and nature, and achieving an organic combination of people and landscape.
A digital factory will promote automatic and intelligent manufacturing. The ultimate goal for the new campus is to accelerate R&D and next-generation product and technology innovation and promote the progress from R&D to industrialization of the company’s full line of high-end medical equipment, core components, and advanced technologies.
The Shanghai complex is expected to be completed by the end of 2024.
