AEC+tech is a newly launched website and online platform that keeps track of the latest architecture, engineering & construction (AEC) emerging technologies and shares real-world projects. It is a growing community of AEC startups, as well as AEC companies and professionals who sign up, create profiles, and feature their exciting products and case studies.
Niknaz Aftahi, the founder of aec+tech, received her bachelor of architecture in Iran and studied master of architecture at UC Berkeley. Her work history includes five years at ELS Architecture and Urban Design in Berkley. There she started a Design technology committee, searching for new tools and software for computational design, sustainability, and visualization.
Niknaz soon realized that built world tech is evolving fast but the industry is not enough aware of the progress.
“The way the building industry is keeping up with new technologies is outdated, disconnected and decentralized. There is no easy way for design and construction firms to find and compare new software and technologies,” she says.
She reminds us that almost all SMEs don’t have the time and money to test new products. There is a growing number of conferences and webinars focused on AEC tech. However, they are often expensive and lengthy, and many companies don’t have the budget to send employees to participate in them.
AEC+tech
AEC+tech wants to change the way companies discover new techologies and products.
“The goal is becoming a one-stop shop for finding the best AEC products, and being a thought leader, rather than advertising particular tools. We will remain unbiased, and the mission is connecting groundbreaking AEC startups with customers, partners and capital,” Niknaz concludes.
