Cincinnati-based Messer Construction Co. is expanding into South Carolina with the opening of its 11th regional office, the company announced on Feb. 1. The office is located in downtown Greenville and also serves Spartanburg and Anderson, as well as surrounding counties.
The Top 100 contractor had overall revenue of $1.35 billion in 2021, according to ENR.
The new office will be led by Erin Thompson, a vice president and region leader who has been with Messer for 25 years. He moved with his family to South Carolina’s Upstate region in December. Greenville native Matt Irwin will lead business development for the office.
Thompson told Construction Dive in an email that Messer has “established relationships with industrial manufacturing companies that have brought us to South Carolina before.” The new expansion, Thompson wrote, reflects the company’s commitment to the Carolinas and developing even more relationships across the region.
The company is looking to jump on aviation, healthcare, higher education, industrial and science and technology projects, which Thompson said are thriving in the state right now.
“We’re excited to continue growing our presence in the Carolinas while providing opportunities for career advancement for our employees,” said Messer President and CEO Tim Steigerwald in the release.
