Construction recently kicked off on a new senior living community in Vancouver, Washington, designed by Portland, Oregon-based GBD Architects.
The new, 12-story, 250-unit, 33,445 m2 (360,000 sf) development, The Springs at The Waterfront, is located along the Columbia River. According to the design and project contractor Howard S. Wright, the facility will provide a mix of units and floorplans.
Its design will pursue the standards for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver certification, as well as FitWel certification, which uses evidence-based design and operational strategies to optimize occupant health.
The facility is a joint venture between PMB, a healthcare real estate developer, and owner/operator The Springs Living. It is part of the 13-ha (32-acre) Vancouver Waterfront master plan, which will provide a differentiated senior living community alongside parks, restaurants, retail, apartments, hotels, and waterfront open space.
The grand opening for the community is anticipated in the first half of 2024. It is anticipated to create more than 100 jobs in Washington State to serve the over 250 residents expected to move into the community when it is completed.
